Reasons To Eat More Fish

Fish is a good source of protein. Fatty fishes pack heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Fish is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. It's packed with vital nutrients such as protein and vitamin D and is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids whcih are very important for your brain especially for children with growing brains. 1. Fish has many important nutrients like protein, iodine and various vitamins and minerals. It is a great source of vitamin D. Fatty fish like salmon and herring contain the highest amounts. Also cod liver oil and some filsh oils are also high in vitamin D. 2. Eating at least one serving of fish per week has been linked to reduced risk of heart attacks and strokes. 3. Fish is high in omegas 3 fatty acids which is essential for the brain. It has been recommended that pregnant and breastfeeding women get enough omega-3 fatty acids but avoid the mercury because that has been linked to brain development problems. Omega-3 fatty acids can help with prevention of Postpartum Depression and help the brain of the growing infant. Pregnant women should eat fish like salmon, sardines and trout. 4. Eating fish is also linked to the reduction of cognative decline in older adults and people who eat fish regulary have more gray matter in the brain that controls memory and emotions. 5. People who eat more fish regulary are much less likely to become depressed. Omega-3 fatty acids have been found to fight depression and other mental conditions.


6. Fish is easy to include in your diet. Choose wild caught fish over farm raised as they tend to have more omega-3 fatty acids and is less likely to be contaminated with pollutants.
